Jam Tarts

Another memory from Verne Williams. One day Lisa and my son James were playing in the back garden, while i was baking. They asked if they coould have some pastry to play with and i gave some to them, along with some jam, cake tins, cutters etc. they cut out the pastry and pressed it into the tart tins and put them into the old coal bunker in the garden pretending it was an oven. In and out of the coal bunker those jam tarts went, it kept them occuppied for ages. As i was taking the last of my baking out of the oven, James and Lisa asked if they could bake their tarts "for real". I couldnt' see the harm so in they went. After they were cooked James and Lisa took them out into the garden to play. A few moments later i made a cup of tea and called my neighbour Ros Thatcher and asked if she would like to join me, she said yes and i went inside to pour the tea. When i came out into the garden with our cups of tea, there was Ros munching on a jam tart. James and Lisa had offered Auntie Ros one of their tarts, which she accepted. It took me a while to stop laughing in order to tell her that those jam tarts had spent the best part of the afternoon in the coal bunker. Happy days!!
